Blueberry sauce is used on Thanksgiving Day in the United States as a garnish for poultry dishes, but many people (especially vegetarians) consume it as a stand-alone food due to its healing properties.

  • For the preparation you need the following ingredients:
  • 350 g blueberries;
  • 100 ml Cabernet red wine;
  • orange juice;
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange peel;
  • 1 cinnamon stick;
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • a powder of ground black pepper;
  • 50 g brown sugar.

Servings: 4

Preparation time: less than 15 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Cranberry sauce with Cabernet wine:

Prepare ingredient: Grate the orange peel and squeeze the orange. Prepare the wine, spices, blueberries and you have all the ingredients at hand.

Blueberry sauce preparation: In a saucepan pour the wine, orange juice, sugar, spices, orange peel, cinnamon stick and simmer all ingredients over medium heat. When it starts to boil, put the blueberries in the pot and wait for it to start boiling again.

When the sauce starts to boil, simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

After 10 minutes, turn off the heat and remove the cinnamon stick from the sauce. Pour the sauce into a bowl and you can serve it hot or cold, as a garnish for poultry dishes.
